As the final in a series of six events, the conference will address a variety of issues facing female high-tech entrepreneurs and scientists including:
- policy perspectives on the importance of women in high-tech entrepreneurship;
- female high-tech starters and their affairs;
- women and high-tech entrepreneurship: facts and figures;
- women and tech transfer;
- women and networks;
- individual entrepreneurial experiences;
- examples of good practice.

FemStart is funded under the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6). It aims to promote public debate on why only a select few women chose a scientific or entrepreneurial career. In addition, the project attempts to identify specific opportunities which encourage women in science to choose entrepreneurship as a career path and discusses how entrepreneurship support structures in universities might be optimised to reach their full potential in this respect.
