Sweden and the euro

Sweden joined the European Union in 1995 and has not yet adopted the euro, but in accordance with the Treaty it will do so once it meets the necessary conditions.

Euro information

Status: Sweden is not yet a member of the euro area. The Swedish krona is not yet within the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM II).

Exchange rate: The current euro to Swedish krona foreign exchange reference rate can be consulted on the website of the European Central Bank (updated daily).

Adoption of the euro: Sweden does not have a target date to adopt the euro.
