Slovakia may wonder what it has done to deserve the EU presidency at this moment. The EU faces unprecedented challenges with the migration crisis, the integrity of the Schengen area, terrorist attacks and economic troubles. Now one country votes to drive itself over a cliff. Slovakia’s priorities include an economically strong Europe, a modern single market, sustainable migration and asylum policies and a globally engaged Europe. Now the future of the EU tops the list. At least a focus on a positive agenda, unifying projects and sustainable solutions is welcome.
