    The Juncker Commission carried the investment theme into its second year with the launch this week of a call for proposals providing a EUR 7.6 bn boost to a European transport infrastructure in dire need of investment.

    Simultaneously, the Commission highlighted a couple of new tools: an Advisory Hub to get project proposals into good shape, and a Project Portal to attract private investment. Both reflect pressure for more efficient use of European resources, and a need to attract greater involvement from private investors in the EU’s own investment plans.
