In the summer of 2014, the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE), the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) and several universities were awarded an Erasmus+ Project titled “Confronting Wicked Problems: Adapting Architectural Education to the New Situation in Europe”.

Having run from 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2017, the so called “Wicked Project” has focused on certain aspects that play a substantial role in the present and near future regarding the teaching and practice of architecture, namely professional knowledge, heritage and sustainability.

The project raises the question of how to teach architecture in Europe today, and especially how curriculum and teaching should be adapted to the new societal and professional situation. The project aims at strengthening the architectural graduates´ ability to face this new normal and thus improve their social impact and employability. Three subtopics were identified that undergone investigation in so-called Think Tanks:

    1. Teaching Architectural Design and Professional Knowledge (TADPK)
    2. Sustainability
    3. Heritage

Results obtained by twenty-five researchers organized in the Think Tanks along with many stakeholders, have been condensed in a final report and eleven attachments that are now made available to the public.

The final report is available here.
