25 October 2022, 17:02 CET

Do you live and work in the European Union? Do you live elsewhere but like to stay on top of what's going on in the EU region? If so, what blogs are, or should be, on your reading list?

According to one source, Europeans are the most avid readers worldwide, spending a minimum of one hour a day reading. Perhaps you read more than that or maybe even less.

But if EU news interests you, it's a good idea to have a selection of blogs to read to stay on top of developments. Continue reading to learn about six EU blogs that should be on your daily reading list. They'll ensure that if anything happens in the EU, you'll know about it.

1. The European Union Center

The European Union Center blog isn't actually published out of the EU. It's published in the U.S. at the University of Illinois. The blog is dedicated to sharing ideas about issues pertaining to the EU. It promotes scholarly research both on the EU and transatlantic relations. If you want to learn more about the EU structure, operations, and institutions, you'll want to check out the blog.

2. European Commission

If you want to learn more about the EU, then you'll want to bookmark the European Commission website. The EC is the executive of the EU and offers access to information about the EU's policies, priorities, and services. If you're interested in keeping up to date on the goings on in the EU region, then it makes sense to use the EC's resources.

3. The EU Policy Blog

This blog is a must-read if you're interested in learning about issues impacting the European continent during the digital age. You'll be able to read up on trends, research, and policy developments that will impact people, businesses, communities, and governments in the EU.

4. EUbusiness

EUbusiness is an online business information service about the EU. Founded in Luxembourg in 1997, the blog provides daily news and information about EU legislation, policy, economic data, and more. Whether you're interested in topics about law, the economy, politics, European countries, or other topics, you'll find plenty to read about on the website.

5. BBC - European Union

You can also go to the BBC's website to learn about the latest EU developments. The public broadcaster offers content on everything from the war in Ukraine to the coronavirus, the climate to world news, business to tech, and science to other subject matter. If you'd rather get your EU news from a news provider with a reputation for offering such content, then you'll want to check out the BBC's EU coverage.

6. HuffPost - European Union

Another source worth checking out daily is the Huff Post's EU coverage. You'll find information on general news, politics, entertainment, life, personal, and more. Are you interested in learning about a development that has seen the EU agree on a price cap on Russian oil amidst the country's war in Ukraine? You can find out more on the website.

These are just a handful of blogs you'll want to check out regularly if you like EU news. Of course, that list is just for starters. With a bit of research, you can find blogs that might focus more on topics that are nearer and dearer to your heart.

While reading blogs like the ones above is great and will keep you informed, you might want to try your hand at writing one. And it doesn't have to be complicated either since platforms like The Blog Starter make it easy to start a blog. Find the platform that's right for you and get started.
