Investment Conference for EU Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs)

As part of the EU–OCT Forum in Aruba, the European Commission will host an Investment Conference dedicated to strengthening investment partnerships between the European Union and the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs). The event will bring together OCT leaders, EU institutions, Member States, development finance institutions, and private sector actors to translate Global Gateway priorities into concrete investment opportunities.

Humanitarian situation in Lebanon: the Development Committee will debate the situation in Lebanon, in the context of Israel’s ongoing assault, with representatives of the World Food Programme and the Lebanon Humanitarian and Development Forum (online) as well as from the EU Commission.
LUX Audience Award 2026: the 2026 LUX Audience Award recipient will be revealed during a ceremony in Parliament’s hemicycle in Brussels attended by MEPs, representatives of the five nominated films, and members of the public. After the announcement, there will be a press point with EP vice-president Sabine Verheyen and the representative of the winning film.

EU 2028–2034 budget: the Budgets Committee will adopt its position on the proposed multiannual financial framework (MFF) for 2028 to 2034. The text, once subsequently adopted by the whole Parliament, will constitute a mandate for negotiations with EU governments on the final shape of the EU’s next long-term budget (Wednesday). On Tuesday at 10.30, a day before the vote, there will be a press conference with the MEPs drafting the proposal.
Iran opposition: Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee and of the parliamentary delegation to Iran will discuss current events in the country with advocates for a free Iran. Guest speakers include: Shirin Ebadi, Sakharov and Nobel Peace Prize laureate (online); Mustafa Hijri, leader of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan; Saeed Bashirtash, leader of the 7 Aban Front; Abdullah Mohtadi, leader of Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan (online); and Sanaz Behzadi, journalist at Open Society.
Protection of workers from occupational health risks: the Employment and Social Affairs Committee will vote on an update of EU rules protecting people from exposure to hazardous chemicals in the workplace, such as carcinogens, mutagens and reprotoxic substances. The aim is to enhance protection from substances that can lead to serious illnesses such as cancer and respiratory diseases.

Temu/unsafe and illegal products: MEPs in the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee will quiz representatives from online marketplace Temu on the company’s adherence to EU rules on product safety, consumer protection, and digital platforms. This meeting follows similar previous discussions with SHEIN and AliExpress.
Energy community: the Industry, Research and Energy Committee will host the Energy Community Parliamentary Plenum, with parliamentarians from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine. They will discuss these countries’ integration into the EU’s electricity and gas markets as well as the phasing out of Russian gas and oil supplies.

The conference will focus on EU defence policy and on simplification as a potential driver of competitiveness. It will bring together judges, legal scholars and practitioners, both in private practice and in-house, as well as lawyers from the Union institutions, Member States’ administrations and other stakeholders, for reflection and debate.
