We have considered casino etiquette before on this site, but it’s worth taking another look as it can vary depending on the region and culture and there are a few unwritten rules that gamblers need to be aware of.

    Euro rules

It’s important to note that these are generalizations, and the specific rules and customs can vary greatly from one casino to another, even within the same region. We are of course referring to the etiquette of land-based casinos, but for those using?online mobile casinos?for unique games or simple?anywhere-anytime convenience, there are also factors to consider.

The common courtesy expected with any online chat is paramount, but keeping any avatars respectful, optimising?your connection, not taking too long when it’s your turn and generally being a good sport will ensure the online experience is pleasant for all.

With land-based casinos, in Europe, many casinos have a dress code and expect patrons to dress up for their visit. Avoid wearing anything too casual or revealing. European casinos generally have a more formal atmosphere, and table manners are more strictly enforced, such as not touching other people’s chips or using proper hand gestures when placing a bet.

Tipping is a common practice in many casinos outside of Europe, where dealers, waitstaff, and other staff members expect to receive tips. In Europe, tipping is less common, and the practice may vary by country.

In some casinos outside of Europe, patrons are allowed to be more boisterous and louder, whereas, in Europe, there is generally a quieter and more reserved atmosphere.?

    Essentials?

This might seem like just common sense, but before you start playing any game, make sure you understand the rules and how to play. This will help you avoid making mistakes and offending other players.

Many establishments these days will have staff available to teach you the basics before you put money on the line, but it might be helpful to arrange this before your visit. Online casinos will also often allow you to play in demo mode and that’s a great way to learn the casino basics at zero cost.

Additionally, many casinos have strict rules against using cell phones while playing. Make sure to turn off your phone or put it on silent before sitting down at a table as even if it’s not a hard rule of the casino, it’ll likely annoy other players.

    Understood

You really shouldn’t stand and watch another player play while peering over their shoulder; doing so will probably make them uncomfortable and may even enrage them. Nobody wants a complete stranger to keep an eye on their every move or invade their personal space. You can watch the action, just keep a respectful distance and don’t disturb the play.

Also, withhold your game advice, even if you see someone just keeps losing and is seemingly throwing their money away. If someone asks for advice, there’s no harm, unless your assistance could result in someone else losing money. People simply don’t like being told what to do with their money, so let them play their way.

Finally, going to a casino with friends is an enjoyable experience, but playing as though it’s a team sport or simply forming a clique at the table is not appreciated. You can all catch up in the lounge later, there’s no need to subject other players to boorish behaviour. Casinos are a great place to meet interesting people, step outside your circle and make the most of the opportunity.

Adhering to these simple fundamental rules of etiquette should guarantee that your time gaming at a casino is pleasurable for you and those around you.
