How Football Betting Sponsorships Helps to Boost Business

At the end of last year, we learned that the betting giant Novibet casino would be sponsoring the Greek Cup for at least the next 5 years. This is yet another foray into the football industry for a betting company, but what exactly do these gambling companies get out of their sponsorship?

Teams across Europe are sponsored by a variety of betting companies. Recent studies show that 20% of all sponsorship across the football landscape in Europe, is gambling-related. Regardless of how people may feel about this, let’s take a look at exactly what gambling companies get in return for their investment.

    Competitive Edge

The online gambling industry is one of the most competitive, and each company needs to do all that it can to garner support and new customers. This is exactly why we often see such mega promotions and bonuses offered by the firms, to new and existing customers. To have your company name emblazoned across a shirt or indeed a trophy means that you are constantly raising awareness. This is the crux of why so many betting firms want to sponsor football teams and tournaments, to gain that competitive edge.

    Smart Placement

Much like other industries, those in the gambling sector look to market their business across a wide spectrum of niches. With this being said, however, advertising around a sporting event makes the most sense. After all, those watching the sport are going to be the most likely to place a wager on it. The hope from many gambling companies is that customers use their sportsbooks, and then discover just what their casinos have in store for them. Additionally in promoting the business in this way, it acts as a call to the action whilst the game is in play.

    Curiosity

Some of the lesser-known betting companies can introduce themselves to sports fans when advertising in this way. Very often we see post-match interviews held in front of advertising boards, which have the names of gambling companies splashed across them. Anyone watching who doesn’t know this business, they are highly likely to check them out online to see what they are all about. This has proven to be a very effective way of introducing the business to the world and growing the customer base.

    Exclusive Offers

Another way in which this kind of sponsorship can boost business is through exclusive offers. We have seen many examples of betting companies that will offer certain boosts or promotions, for those betting on teams or competitions which they sponsor. This certainly helps to increase customer numbers but it can also boost the amount of money that is being placed on those teams or competitions.

This strategy has proven time and time again to be successful. For a relatively small sum of money, gambling companies can get their name out there, eat up market share and drive new customers to their websites. Football teams get the money they need and gambling firms count on a boost in business, a real win/win.
