    The Industrial Production index, released by Eurostat on a monthly basis, measures changes in the price-adjusted output of industry.

    The Industrial Production, released by Eurostat, shows the volume of production of Industries such as factories and manufacturing.

    9:00 am HCOB Composite PMI (Dec) (Preliminary release)

    The Composite Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), released on a monthly basis by S&P Global and Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB), is a leading indicator gauging private-business activity in the Eurozone for both the manufacturing and services sectors. The data is derived from surveys to senior executives.

    The Trade Balance released by Eurostat is a balance between exports and imports of total goods and services. A positive value shows trade surplus, while a negative value shows trade deficit.

    The weekly Commitments of Traders (COT) report provides information on the size and the direction of the positions taken, across all maturities, participants primarily based in Chicago and New York futures markets.

    10:00 am Core Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (MoM) (Nov)

    The Core Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) measures changes in the prices of a representative basket of goods and services in the European Monetary Union. The HICP, released by Eurostat on a monthly basis, is harmonized because the same methodology is used across all member states and their contribution is weighted.

    1:15 pm ECB Main Refinancing Operations Rate

    One of the three key interest rates set by the European Central Bank (ECB), the main refinancing operations rate is the interest rate the ECB charges to banks for one-week long loans. It is announced by the European Central Bank at its eight scheduled annual meetings.

    The Consumer Confidence released by the European Commission is a leading index that measures the level of consumer confidence in economic activity.

    Philip Richard Lane is an Executive Board member of the European Central Bank since June 2019 and its Chief Economist.
