    Banking secrecy

    Measures are adopted at EU level to ensure that banks confidentiality regarding client accounts does not hinder investigations into illegal money laundering.

    Brussels I regulation

    An EU Council regulation on common standards for the jurisdiction and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters. Based on the Brussels Convention of 1968.

    Brussels II regulation

    An EU Council regulation on the jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and matters of parental responsibility.

    Business activities

    To facilitate business activities across the EU, three priorities are being pursued: access to justice, mutual recognition of judicial proceedings, and convergence in procedural law. Uniform procedures on insolvency have been developed.
