This year's forum will take a look at the euro area's first decade of development, and the single currency's ongoing and future roles in the evolution of an integrated market.

Given the current turmoil of the world's financial markets, participants will also be able to question international experts on the Economic and Monetary Union's ability to cope with the new challenges posed by a growing global economic interdependence.

The forum will also provide an opportunity for policy makers and academics to debate issues that currently figure prominently on the EU and international agenda, such as recent financial market developments and their possible implications for Europe.
