Publisher's Note
================
EU leaders have launched a concerted effort to persuade the
United States at their forthcoming G20 summit to curb
bankers' bloated bonuses. They agreed at a special summit
on Thursday to seek a global deal for excessive bankers'
bonuses to be clawed back in the future.

Whether the bonus bubble really has burst, as Swedish Prime
Minister Reinfeldt suggested on Thursday, is now to a large
extent up to the U.S. The curbs are not just needed on
moral grounds. They are intended to prevent a threat to
economic stability from extreme risk-taking by powerful
individual traders.
