As catastrophic wildfires sweep across Southern Europe, WWF warns that the EU is sleepwalking into a permanent wildfire crisis while simultaneously weakening key environmental protections that help safeguard people, economies and nature from climate impacts.
EU Member States must not use international offsets to meet their domestic 2040 Climate Target, says the newest report from the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change.
WWF strongly condemns proposals by Austria and Luxembourg to “simplify” the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which were presented to Agriculture and Fisheries ministers today – mere months after Member States had confirmed that the substance of the law should remain untouched.
“Europe can no longer afford to see its most promising innovative companies scale up in the USA or Asia”, said SMEunited President Petri Salminen in response to the launch of the EU Startup and Scale-up Strategy.
“SMEs remain cautious and concerned about the impact the introduction of a new company category “small midcaps” will have on SMEs and SME policy in Europe” SMEunited President Salminen stated as a first feedback to the publication of the Omnibus and the Single Market Package.
SMEunited calls on the European Commission to “think small first and act accordingly” ahead of the adoption of the “Small Midcap Omnibus” tomorrow.
