    Publisher’s Note

Registrations of the .eu domain name have doubled since its launch, according to EURid, the .eu top-level domain registry, which marked its fifth birthday this week.

Now one of the world’s ten largest top-level domains, .eu helps major global companies to convey a clear European identity, presenting themselves online as open for business across Europe. .eu sites now include the likes of Bridgestone, Hyundai, the MAN Group, Microsoft and the UniCredit Group.

The domain is probably of most benefit to smaller companies, however, as it quickly raises their profile on European markets. It is also noticeable that among the 3.4m .eu registrations the strongest growth rates have come from Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia.
