The furniture industry is one that is continuously going through change as consumer trends and habits evolve. Now that the first half of the year has passed, we have a better understanding of what the main furniture trends in 2022 are and what way the industry is heading. Here are a few of the main trends to be aware of in 2022.

    Online Furniture Market

One of the most notable trends is the continued growth of the online furniture market. The market is predicted to continue growing until 2026 with a market size growth of $112.67 billion from 2021 to 2026. Many people are now buying their furniture online because there are so many platforms to choose from, plus the pandemic has led people to buy products online that previously would have been purchased in-store. People are also shopping online as they can find more interesting, varied and more affordable options by shopping online.

    Fitted Furniture

Despite the ongoing cost of living crisis, it is clear that people are still spending big on furniture and this goes along with the growing DIY trend. People are willing to spend money to improve their homes, especially with many spending more time at home. Demand for items like fitted wardrobes has risen as these can help people to save space in their homes, plus they can also make rooms look more sleek and professional.

    Office Furniture

Unsurprisingly, office furniture is a major trend right now as many people adjust to WFH in the long term. At the start of the pandemic, it was unclear how long the situation would last and many expected to be back in the office in a few months. Many businesses found remote work to be hugely successful and beneficial for all, so most are now adopting a hybrid work model moving forward. This means that people need to have a comfortable and practical office space at home and will require a high-quality office chair, desk, storage cabinets and other office furniture.

    Pet Furniture

Pet furniture is also a trend and one with great potential for the future. Many people purchased pets during the pandemic and pet furniture is essential for keeping them comfortable at home. This can include things like dog and cat beds, pet sofas, hammocks, baskets and crates/cages.

These are a few of the main furniture trends that are emerging in 2022. The furniture industry is always going through change with evolving consumer trends and it is clear that there have been some significant changes and developments in recent years largely due to the pandemic. This is now reflected in the furniture that people are buying and it will be interesting to see how these trends fare over the rest of the year and beyond.
