“The proposal for the EU Inc. puts forward a single company law framework to incentivise cross-border activities, which should allow for smoother ways for SMEs to expand within the Single Market. At the same time, the EU Inc. should respect companies operating at local level with their national legal form”, stated SMEunited President Davide Galli at today’s presentation of the proposal on the 28th Regime corporate legal framework, the ‘EU Inc.’.

President Galli welcomes the initiative as a step towards addressing the ongoing fragmentation of the Single Market. Many SMEs still face challenges when they want to expand to another Member State. They still have to deal with different company laws, complex administrative procedures, and legal uncertainties. These barriers limit growth, increase costs, and discourage investment.
“Today’s proposal provides a solid foundation for addressing some of the structural difficulties in our Single Market”, Mr Galli continued. “SMEs must have access to a simple and predictable legal framework to support their ambitions to operate beyond national borders”.
The EU Inc. should ensure fewer duplicate registrations, clearer rules, and greater legal certainty when selling goods or providing services in another EU country. Ensuring that the EU Inc. remains optional, simple, and accessible is important, in order to remain fully in line with the “Think Small First” principle.
President Davide Galli particularly appreciates that the proposal includes SMEs and does not restrict access to a specific category of companies. “The EU Inc. should be inclusive, open to all types of businesses,
