Over the course of a two-day meeting, the Agriculture and Fisheries Council will discuss the post-2027 common agricultural policy, trade-related agricultural issues and support for the common fisheries policy for 2028-2034. Moreover, fisheries ministers will hold an exchange of views on the upcoming EU-UK and EU-Norway and coastal states fisheries consultations for 2026. Fisheries ministers will also discuss ways of unlocking smarter and simpler fisheries regulations over an informal lunch.

The Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action will host a webinar on the draft Terms and Conditions (T&Cs) for the Innovation Funds’ upcoming 2025 Auction for Hydrogen Production (IF25 Hydrogen Auction).
The event will provide an overview of the main feedback received during the six-week public consultation ending on 14 September. The webinar will also offer participants the opportunity to ask any further questions.

EU defence industry: MEPs in the Industry, Research and Energy Committee will vote on a series of changes to existing EU funding programmes to allow the financing of defence-related technologies and products. In line with the ReArm Europe plan, the aim is to boost the EU’s defence preparedness and encourage strategic investments by EU countries in critical defence capabilities.
Quality traineeships: the Employment and Social Affairs Committee will adopt its position on a new EU bill that seeks to improve working conditions for trainees, while also combating abusive practices, such as regular employment relationships disguised as traineeships. The new rules would regulate traineeship contracts on issues such as duration, remuneration and access to social protection.
Danish Presidency priorities: the Committees on Industry, Research and Energy and on Economic and Monetary Affairs will discuss the priorities of the Danish Presidency of the Council in their respective fields of responsibility with Denmark’s Minister of Higher Education and Science, Christina Egelund, and its Minister for Economic Affairs, Stephanie Lose (Tuesday and Wednesday).
2025 Sakharov Prize: Members of the Foreign Affairs and Development Committees and the Human Rights Subcommittee will present the political groups’ nominations for the 2025 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The vote on the three finalists and the announcement of the laureate will take place in October. The award ceremony will follow in December, in Strasbourg.
