Publisher's Note
================
Micro-companies could be exempted from having to draw up
annual accounts under an amendment to EU accounting rules
approved by the European Parliament's Legal Affairs
Committee this week.

As around 5.4 of the 7.2 million companies subject to EU
reporting rules are micro-entities - i.e. firms with less
than 10 employees, the vote could substantially reduce
administrative burdens on SMEs. If all countries exempted
small firms without imposing additional requirements, the
proposal could save an estimated EUR 6.3 billion.
