    EU trade in goods with Australia in 2025

    The EU exported €36.9 billion worth of goods to Australia in 2025, and imported €10.2 billion, resulting in a €26.7 billion trade surplus, according to Eurostat.

    Data from the EU’s statistics agency show that exports dropped by 4.9% compared with 2024 but increased by 39.6% compared with 2015. Similarly, imports decreased by 4.8% compared with 2024 and increased by 49.9% compared with 2015.

    The top 5 most exported product groups, categorised by the Standard International Trade Classification, accounted for 47.3% of the total value of goods exported to Australia.

    These were medicinal and pharmaceutical products (13.1%), road vehicles (11.1%), general industrial machinery and equipment (9.5%), electrical machinery, appliances and electrical parts (6.9%) and machinery specialised for particular industries (6.7%).

    The top 5 most imported product groups accounted for 62.1% of all imported goods in value. Coal, coke and briquettes accounted for 29.0% of all imports, followed by oilseeds and oleaginous fruits (15.3%), gold (7.2%), metalliferous ores and metal scrap (5.6%) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (5.0%).
