Air passenger rights: following a debate on Monday, MEPs are set to adopt updated rules to protect air travellers against travel disruptions, with measures including compensation after a three-hour delay and fee-free child seating, on Tuesday.
Carbon border adjustment mechanism: the Environment Committee will vote on the proposal to extend the EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) to specific steel- and aluminium-intensive downstream products, and to strengthen anti-circumvention measures. Members will also vote on the separate proposal for a temporary decarbonisation fund, financed from CBAM revenues, to support decarbonisation investment by energy-intensive industries still exposed to carbon leakage.

Irish Council Presidency: MEPs will discuss the priorities of the Irish government’s six-month Council Presidency, which began on 1 July, with Taoiseach Micheál Martin.
EU social security coordination: MEPs are set to give their final approval to updated rules ensuring access to social security for EU workers who live or work in another EU country.
High fertiliser prices: Parliament is set to approve help for farmers affected by the rising costs of fertilisers.
EU automotive sector: possible measures to strengthen the automotive sector and its competitiveness and protect jobs will be the subject of a plenary debate with the Commission on Tuesday.
Cybersecurity and AI: MEPs will quiz the Commission on its latest proposals regarding artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Enlargement: MEPs will debate the progress of Ukraine, Moldova and Serbia towards EU membership, followed by votes on Wednesday.
Seminar on reinforcing European democracy: the EP media service is organising a briefing for media on Parliament’s work on the European Democracy Shield and AgoraEU. Key MEPs will discuss with journalists the proposals endorsed by the EP Special Committee, as well as expectations for the upcoming plenary vote and next steps.

Macro-regional & Sea Basin Strategies Days 2026

The EU Macro-regional and Sea Basin Strategies Days are coming back in July 2026! The event is co-organised by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE).
On 8 and 9 July in Brussels, the eight strategies (Alpine, Danube, Adriatic-Ionian, Baltic Sea, Atlantic, Western Mediterranean, Black Sea and Greater North Sea) will come together during a two-day event in Brussels.
