Latest business news about Chemicals and the European Union. REACH is the European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The law entered into force on 1 June 2007.

In 2007 chemicals sales in the EU amounted to EUR 537 billion which is about 30 per cent of global sales of chemicals. Regulation has a significant impact on the chemicals industry. This is why the quality of legislation, correct implementation and proper enforcement are not only of high significance for the achievement of health and environmental objectives, but also for the competitiveness of the chemicals industry.
