(BRUSSELS) - The EU Commission launched Wednesday the remaining calls for the culture and creative sectors within the culture strand of Creative Europe programme, making available a total amount of EUR 88 million.

The budget will cover European cooperation projects in the field of culture, the circulation and increased diversity of European literary works, and will provide training and performance opportunities for young musicians.

Culture Commissioner Mariya Gabriel said Europe's culture sector had been hit hard by the pandemic: "Now that restrictions are being lifted, it is time to focus on the sustainable recovery of cultural activities and venues. Creative Europe's budget for the next seven years has substantially increased, and for this year, €88 million will already be made available to support artists, authors and performers reconnect with audiences across Europe. I invite all parties to check the conditions of the calls and use this opportunity."

The calls focus, among others, on European artistic cooperation and innovation on topics such as audience engagement, social cohesion digitization, and contribution to the European Green Deal.

The call dedicated to European platforms will specifically contribute to increasing the visibility, programming and promotion of emerging artists. Interested organisations can now submit applications, with deadlines ranging from end of August to the end of September depending on the calls.
