(BRUSSELS) - European trade investigators said Thursday they have launched a probe into a suspected cartel among suppliers of seatbelts, airbags and steering wheels.
The European Commission said officials conducted, starting on Tuesday, "unannounced inspections at the premises of companies that supply car seatbelts, airbags and steering wheels."
The EU executive "has reason to believe that the companies concerned may have violated EU antitrust rules that prohibit cartels and restrictive business practices," it added in a statement.
