EU-Algeria tariff talks break down again

(ALGIERS) - Talks between Algeria and the European Union (EU) on scrapping tariffs under a free-trade accord have failed again, sources close to the negotiations said Tuesday.
The sixth round of talks kicked off on Monday following the collapse of a previous attempt, in Brussels last month, by Algeria to delay the removal of tariffs from 2017 to 2020.
"The two sides decided Monday the negotiations would resume in September in a bid to iron out remaining differences," an official told the APS news agency.
It said one of the main stumbling blocks was the list of products that Algeria would like to remain subject to customs duties once tariffs are dismantled.
