Why is Wordpress good for creating landing pages?

28 March 2019, 15:20 CET

In a world dominated by digital marketing, it is important to attract and keep your customers on your website long enough to complete a transaction (be it a purchase or just a subscription). Landing pages are suited to achieve just this.

There are many different ways to create landing pages. All of them have their pros and cons, and you need to consider them to select one that will best suit your needs. If you're not a programmer, you can try one of the comprehensive online services available on the internet.

Literally, hundreds of thousands articles about creating good landing pages have been written throughout the years. They all share common threats, enumerating key "ingredients" that a landing page should have in order to create successful leads.

So, we've decided to take one of our favorite platforms, Wordpress, to show how you could create a landing page with it.

There are several options to consider, each having its pros and cons. And so, you can:

  • build a page from scratch using PHP;
  • use one of many available Wordpress templates/themes;
  • utilize a page builder or a plug-in;
  • try one of the landing page builder platforms.

Let's consider each of the cases:

1. Using PHP

This is a great option if you have extensive coding knowledge, or can afford to hire a web designer. This gives you greatest control over your project, although it might be time-consuming and hiring a web designer isn't cheap, either. Also, you won't be able to access conversion rates and you might be forced to use additional tools for features such as e-mail integration.

2. Using a ready template/theme.

This is probably the most affordable of the options. However, there are several constraints that might lead you to reconsider this option. In some cases, you would still need coding experience to take advantage of all functions of a given template. What's more, like in the case of PHP, you will have no access to conversion rates for individual pages. Finally, like before, you might have to use other tools and manually integrate them into the system. Therefore, a time-save might turn out to be a time-consumer.

3. Take advantage of a plug-in or a page builder.

Plug-ins and page builders have many advantages over previously described methods. These include drag-and-drop features or ready-to-use themes, also premium ones. And, what's most important, you don't need any coding skills to create your landing page. However, this method might prove more time-consuming than using a landing page builder platform, you might get limited or no support, and it might prove costly if you'd like to support more than one page.

4. Try one of the landing page builder platforms.

These tools provide different solutions to make your life easier. Firstly, they utilize easy-to-use page builders that use intuitive drag-and-drop method for creating content. They come with a multitude of ready templates that you just have to install to use. Here, you don't have to have coding experience, everything is based on a graphical interface. These are not cheap solutions, and depending on your needs, they can cost even up to several hundred dollars per month (most of these pages use monthly plans). However, it is still more affordable than hiring a developer to do the job and gives you much more in return.

If you've been wondering how to create a landing page in Wordpress, we've just provided you with some basics. It's up to you, which option you'll decide to choose.
