Britain out to bring new Ukranian government closer to EU
Pro-Russian politician Viktor Yanukovych was confirmed as prime minister Friday, ending a four-month political crisis as the Ukrainian parliament endorsed a new coalition government including pro-Western elements.
"I welcome the agreement that has been reached in Ukraine to appoint a new government," British junior foreign minister Ian McCartney said.
"The holding of free and fair elections in March was a significant development both for Ukraine and for the region.
"We look forward to working closely
with the new government in taking forward the political and economic
reform that is necessary to bring Ukraine closer to the rest of
Europe."
