The function of the Referendum Commission is to ensure that everyone is as fully informed as possible about the background and the issues involved in the referendum. This website is designed to give a brief account of how the EU has developed, how it works, what changes are proposed in the Treaty of Nice and what the effect of the constitutional referendum to be held on 19 October 2002 will be.<BR>
