Welcome back after the summer break, as the likelihood of Brexit starts to sink in. So is the European dream over? Not if Europe's young people have anything to do with it. 7,000 of them met at May's European Youth Event to discuss how to tackle Europe's challenges, and fifty of the best ideas were presented in a report to the European Parliament this week.

Collaboration was the recurring theme, with ideas on the EU-wide job market, unifying entrepreneurship resources and helping young businesses, pooling energy resources and investing in smart-grids. Enough maybe to inspire the EU's struggling leadership as well as MEPs - and also to show that the model of Europeans coming together to forge a common future is not a thing of the past.
