"ANEC recognises the contribution that European standards can make to business competitiveness, but stresses that standards also need to reflect the views of public interest stakeholders. Prior to confirmation of the new Juncker Commission, we want to remind policymakers of the importance of organised consumer participation throughout the continuum of consumer protection & welfare: from the development of European policy & legislation, through to elaboration of the supporting standards, conformity evaluation & assessment, and on to market surveillance & enforcement", commented Arnold Pindar, ANEC President.
The 25th ANEC General Assembly took place on 13 October in Brussels and saw the participation of members from 22 European countries, as well as representatives of the European Commission, EFTA Secretariat and BEUC.
ANEC is the European consumer voice in standardisation, defending consumer interests in the processes of technical standardisation and conformity assessment, as well as related legislation and public policies.
