April 9, 2011 – Amman - New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) – Amman held its 8th job fair with around 40 regional and Arab companies and institutions specialized in ICT, banking and finance, construction, and food industries among others.

“Providing over 180 jobs to BA and MA graduates, this year’s job fair witnessed participation of renowned private sector companies and several international non-profit organizations,” commented Lina Mattar, Associate Director of NYIT’s Alumni and Employer Relations Office.

“Our mission is to offer an array of programs and services to help students enhance their career-oriented professional education, gain access to career opportunities, and provide a chance to network with potential employers.  Through such events and upcoming projects we hope to assist students in preparing for their future,” Mattar added.

Mattar stressed that student recruitment is one of NYIT’s top priorities and that the university relies on such activities to enable them to contract with various companies, in addition to enhancing cooperation between Jordanian and Arab companies, providing them with a chance to exchange experiences, boosting the country’s economic development.

The event was attended by hundreds of students from different specializations and universities, hoping to learn more about vacancies at the participating companies including Nuqul Group, Arab Bank, Orange, Nissan, Abu Khader Group, Ipsos, in addition to non-governmental organizations such as the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), and the Royal Film Commission.

Mattar praised the role of participating companies and the valuable information they provided to the students looking for excellent job opportunities. Mattar also admired the sponsoring musical band “GuitaNai” and its outstanding performance at the job fair.
