Job summary

The European Patent Office (EPO) - the second-largest public institution in Europe, with 7 000 staff members and a self-financed annual budget of EUR 2bn - is looking for a lawyer to work on patent law-related projects and tasks.

Location: Munich, Germany


The Directorate Patent Law supports EPO policy and work by developing, strengthening and promoting the European Patent Convention and the patent system generally.

Its specialist lawyers, who are grouped into three departments (Opposition and Substantive Patent Law; Filing and Euro-PCT; Search and Examination, Fees), assist examiners and formalities staff throughout the patent grant procedure and advise the President on related issues. They also inform users and stakeholders on EPO practice as the law develops.

The successful candidate will work in one of the three above-mentioned departments and report direct to the relevant head of department.
