UK or Ireland Card Processor for small volume?

12 February 2003, 15:02 CET
I'll be involved in organising a conference in Dublin, Ireland, next July. Some people - maybe 30 - may want to pay by credit card.
As this is a limited number of transactions, I don't want to set up a merchant account or an online shop with a high initial cost, so paying a percentage to a card processor seems the simplest means. This will be taken down end-July. Typical transaction value will be about 200 euros each.
PayPal require payers to register with them, which many are loath to do because of security and privacy concerns.
Companies like Paysystems.com only pay in US checks, so even if I invoice in euros, I would receive only bimonthly payments in the post (implies a delay) in the form of a cheque in USD (implies a loss on exchange) drawn on a US bank (implies bank clearing charges). Electronic payment is too expensive at $36 per payment.
My question is ... is there a payment processor who can enable me to invoice in euro and receive the FULL (nett after the 4% transaction fee, of course) value in my EURO bank account in IRELAND? If not, can I get my other option : to invoice in GBP and receive its full nett value in GBP in my UK bank account?
TIA
Patrick
www.eusprig.org

Patrick O'Beirne
