Czech companies win 88.5 million euro Iraq refineries contract

24 May 2007, 23:04 CET

(PRAGUE) - Two Czech companies, Technoexport and Prokop Enginnering Brno, have been awarded a 2.5 billion koruna (88.5-million-euro, 119.1-million-dollar) contract to provide refinery equipment to Iraq refineries, the companies announced on Thursday.

"Our companies will provide atmospheric distillation equipment for refineries at Bagdad and Basra," Technoexport's general director, Miloslav Koznar told a news conference.

Koznar said the fact that the former Czechoslovakia built around 60 percent of Iraq's refinery capacity was a help in winning the order.
