Two Euro deputies dance with Iranian resistance on Internet
(LISBON) - A film showing two members of the European Parliament dancing with members of the Iranian resistance the Moudjahidine du Peuple has been broadcast on the YouTube Internet site, the Portuguese weekly Expresso said on Saturday.
Portuguese Socialist Paulo Casaca confirmed that he and German leftist deputy Andre Brie had met members of the Iranian resistance movement at their camp in Ashraf (60 kilometres north of Bagdad) during a mission from January 4 to the 8.
He told Radio Antena 1 that the film, "entitled "Paulo Casaca, Dancing with Terrorists" had been put on the site by an organisation with links to the Iranian regime.
The German deputy Brie also claimed the footage had been released by Iranian agents in Iraq, and said Casaca's life would be in danger if he returns to the country as a result.
The Moudjahidine du Peuple organisation was withdrawn from the European Union's list of terrorist organisations by the European Court.
Casaca said it had helped him and his colleague talk to thousands of people during the visit, aimed at help map out a future for Iraq.
Casaca is a member of a pro-Israel association which advocates the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
