Dutch premier rules himself out of EU presidency running

(BRUSSELS) - Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende on Thursday ruled himself out as a candidate for the new job of president of the European Union.

"I'm not a candidate, no-one has asked me to be one," the Netherlands premier said as he arrived at a Brussels summit where heads of government were haggling over two top jobs.
