EU commission chief Barroso's new team

(STRASBOURG) - The European parliament on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved the new 26-member cabinet of EU Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso after months of delay.

The new team includes 13 members of the conservative European People's Party grouping (EPP), eight liberals and six socialists (PES).

There are nine women, one more than the outgoing executive.

Fourteen of the outgoing team of 27 -- including Barroso and new EU foreign affairs supremo Catherine Ashton -- are included in the new team, though all but Barroso change portfolios.
