Police nab drunk, unruly Poles after Euro 2012 exit
(WROCLAW) - Police detained at least three drunk and unruly Poland fans in the southwestern Polish city of Wroclaw Saturday after a Euro 2012 match which saw the Czech Republic eliminate Poland 1-0, police said.
Several Poland fans upset over the result "began a brawl among themselves and then started hurling bottles at the police which quickly managed to bring the situation under control," Wroclaw police spokesman Pawel Petrykowski told AFP.
"At least three people were detained," he said, adding the incident was an isolated one. No further incidents were reported after midnight local time (2200 GMT).
Co-hosts Poland crashed out of the European Championship as they lost 1-0 to the Czech Republic at Wroclaw's Municipal Stadium Saturday with their opponents winning Group A.
Czech Petr Jiracek scored the only goal of the game 18 minutes from time as the Czechs joined Greece - the 2004 champions - in the quarter-finals.
