Nobel Peace Prize: Institutions that have won

(OSLO) - The Nobel Peace Prize, awarded on Friday to the European Union, has a long history of recognising institutions since it was first awarded in 1901.

In October 2001, the award was given to the United Nations and its secretary general.

The International Committee of the Red Cross tops the list of institutional laureates with three wins: in 1917, 1944 and 1963.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was honoured in 1954 and 1981.
