(SKOPJE) - Macedonian police have seized some 350 kilogrammes (771 pounds) of marijuana bound for the European Union, worth up to one million euros ($1.3 million), and arrested 15 people, a minister said on Tuesday.

The drugs, which were to have been transported to western Europe, were seized on the Macedonian border with Greece, Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska told reporters, without revealing when the operation had taken place.

Police arrested 15 Macedonian nationals in two different raids, while two managed to escape, Jankuloska said.

Macedonia lies on the so-called Balkans route used by criminals to smuggle people, drugs and weapons to EU countries.

I was busted in 1981, for conspiracy to import and distribute 12,000 pounds of marijuana.
In that era, the DEA estimated that 40 tons per day were being consumed in the US.
My 6 tons was a measly 3 1/2 hour supply. Yet, I still spent 5 years in Federal Prison for that 'indiscretion.'

I wrote about the great times I had that led to my arrest:
Shoulda Robbed a Bank

I would be honored by your review.
