(PRISTINA) - Kosovo police on Wednesday arrested seven people suspected of involvement in human trafficking, a press release from the EU rule of law mission said.

The suspects were arrested in connection with the so-called Tisza human trafficking case, the EULEX mission said in a statement, referring to an incident in which some 20 people from Kosovo went missing while attempting to enter Hungary in mid-October.

At least 15 people were believed to have drowned as their boat sank in the Tisza river bordering Serbia and Hungary at the time.

Local media reported that bodies of 10 people had been uncovered and buried in Kosovo so far, while one man and his two children reportedly were only survivers.

"The individuals were taken into custody following a series of police operations on Wednesday morning" in five towns throughout Kosovo, the statement added.

The EULEX mission has been deployed in Kosovo to help the Serbian region which unilaterally declared independence last year to improve justice, police and customs system.
