(DUBLIN) - Incoming prime minister Enda Kenny said Saturday he wants to start renegotiating the terms of Ireland's unpopular EU-IMF bailout next week following his party's election victory.

"We're going to move on this next week, I've already had contacts with Europe this very day," Kenny, the leader of the Fine Gael party, told a news conference.

In November the government of outgoing premier Brian Cowen agreed to an 85-billion-euro ($115-billion) bailout with the European Union and International Monetary Fund, sparking widespread anger.

"I see room for manoeuvre in terms of interest rates and in terms of the cost of the bank structure. We'll move on this very quickly," Kenny said.
