(FRANKFURT) - German chemicals giant BASF said Tuesday it plans to build a 150-million-euro ($192-million) emissions catalysts facility in Poland with the creation of 400 jobs.

BASF said in a statement it would invest approximately 90 million euros in the first step to build a mobile emissions catalysts production facility in Sroda Slaska, a special economic zone near Wroclaw.

Construction of the new 40,000 square metre facility would begin "before the end of 2012" and production was scheduled to start there in the first quarter of 2014.

The site would be subsequently expanded, raising the total investment volume to around 150 million euros.

And once all production lines were operating at full capacity by 2016, BASF expects to employ more than 400 people at the new site, it said.
