(PARIS) - French construction and telecoms group Bouygues said on Thursday that it had won a 770-million-euro contract to build and operate a sports and leisure complex in Singapore

Under the contract worth 977 million US dollars or 1.3 billion Singapore dollars, Bouygues Construction's Dragages Singapore unit is to help finance, build and run the facility for 25 years in partnership with local authorities.

Work is due to begin in September and the complex is slated for completion in April 2014.

The facility will be on a 35 hectare site 15 minutes from Changi International airport and will include a new 55,000-seat National Stadium with a retractable roof and an indoor water sports centre with a capacity for 6,000.

In addition to incorporating an existing stadium, the complex will also include an exhibition centre, a sports museum and office space for sporting associations as well as space for stores and food outlets.
