The EU's most deadly air crashes

(PARIS) - A German budget airliner crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday with 150 people on board declared dead.

It was one of the worst aviation disasters in the European Union in the past 20 years:

- 2015 -

- March 24: FRANCE - An Airbus A320 airliner belonging to Lufthansa's low-cost Germanwings crashes en route from Barcelona to Duesseldorf in the French Alps. France says all 150 people on Flight 4U 9525 died. Germanwings says they included at least 67 Germans, of whom 16 were schoolchildren, as well as Spaniards and Turks.

- 2008 -

- August 20: SPAIN - An MD-82 plane owned by Spanish low-cost company Spanair crashes and turns into a fireball while taking off at Madrid for the Canary Islands, killing 154 people.

- 2005 -

- August 14: GREECE - A Boeing belonging to Cyprus company Helios crashes near Athens, killing 121 people.

- 2001 -

- October 8: ITALY - A collision between an MD-87 belonging to Scandinavian airline SAS and a private Cessna plane in the fog at Milan-Linate airport leaves 118 dead.

- 2000 -

July 25: FRANCE - An Air France Concorde headed for New York crashes near to Paris' Roissy airport, killing 113 and sounding the death knell for commercial supersonic travel.

France's worst air accident happened on March 3, 1974, when 346 people were killed in a crash shortly after a Turkish Airlines plane took off from Paris.

The deadliest air disaster in history remains the collision on March 27, 1977 between two Boeing 747s in Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands, in which 583 people were killed.

Budget airline, 24 year old plane ready for scrap!!!

They probably skimped on on-board oxygen supply, ran out half way, every one passed out and killed 150 innocent people.
Avoid lufthansa and it's subsidiaries in future.
Safer to fly air zimbabwe!!!
However, it is a photo-opportunity for politicians like booby angela to appear. Makes you wonder what value add these politicians bring to an event like this other than waste tax payers money.

the 1974 crash of Turkish Airlines near paris was caused by the following:
1) the design of the McDonnell DC-10 cargo door bolts
which were made of soft aliminium that bent easily if forced. All McDonnell designs of DC-10 and DC-9s were of poor quality. The names were subsequently changed to MD-10 and MD-9 respectively and they were relegated to mail and cargo service but they kept on falling out of the sky. Crap in other words.
2) An ignorent and ill trained air-france ground crew from africa who used excessive force to engage the already weak cargo door latch, breaking it internally and causing the door to blow open in flight and causing severe de-compression and hence the accident.

It is also worth noting that after the accident a news writer ( I won't call him a reporter because that is all he was and ignorent brit working for one of the british nespapers)wrote " Should second rate nations fly sophisticated aircraft like the DC-10 blah blah blah...
He was an ignorant and cluless moron also suffering severely from a case of sour grapes because at the time his nation's carriers were still flying 40 years old comets in europe and something called VC-10 (rear four engined british aircraft, noisy as hell and polluting as hell that nobody other than BOAC bought a single one) outside of Europe.

.. actually the deadliest EU crashes came turkish-ottoman empire and its centuries long attempts to eradicate Christianity, and it accelerates in recent years as many thousands of muslims sneak every day through EU boundaries. EU border ships every day save from high seas illigal muslims who bluntly believe in that old and deadliest dog prophet mohamed, and after receiving food, hand money and medical treatement some of these muslim terrorist go to Syria and Irak to bomb Christian Churches and shoot Christians.
Saudi Arabia - even though advocating "muslim brotherhood"????? doeas not take any of those illigal muslim migrants that flock EU borders.
