Eurogroup may hold Greece talks Thursday: Juncker
(LUXEMBOURG) - Eurozone finance ministers may hold talks on the Greek debt rescue package tomorrow depending on the outcome of negotiations in Athens, the head of the Eurogroup said Wednesday.
"Tonight at the latest I will decide if a Eurogroup meeting will take place tomorrow evening or not," Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker told a news conference.
The Eurogroup is waiting for the outcome of negotiations in Athens, where Greek political parties reviewed economic reforms demanded by European partners and the IMF in return of a new 130-billion-euro bailout.
Greece is also negotiating a debt writedown with its private creditors, aiming to slash its massive debt by 100 billion euros.
"Discussion are ongoing in Athens. I see there is progress, notably regarding the involvement of the private sector," Juncker said.
He said discussions on the second bailout were also ongoing, adding: "I hope to get a clear picture of the situation by tomorrow morning."
