ECB sees 'uneven' eurozone recovery

(FRANKFURT) - Eurozone growth is likely to be only moderate in 2010 and economic recovery "uneven," the head of the European Central Bank said Thursday.

"The euro area economy is expected to grow only at a moderate pace in 2010 and the recovery process could be uneven," Jean-Claude Trichet told a press conference after the bank left its benchmark interest rate at a record low 1.0 percent.

Trichet cited lower investment, increased unemployment and weaker consumer spending as factors hampering momentum in the 16-nation eurozone.
