(COPENHAGEN) - Ten Greenpeace activists broke into the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI)'s Copenhagen offices on Thursday, accusing the trade body of lobbying against a EU plan to slash carbon dioxide emissions.

The activists also hung a 70-square-metre (750-square-feet) banner reading "DI: Delaying Innovation" outside the DI building, which is empty and under maintenance.

The ten protestors stayed in the building from 6:00 to 9:00 am (0500 to 0800 GMT) and dispersed on their own before being arrested, police spokesman Erik Goetche Larsen told AFP.

Greenpeace alleged DI is, through its membership in BusinessEurope, pushing for for a move away from clean energies in Europe.

"Danish Industries helps to engage in heavy lobbying to keep Europe spending on climate damaging fuels such as coal, oil and gas," the environmental group said in a statement.

The trade board meanwhile said it supported the EU's plan to cut emissions and "found it difficult to understand" Greenpeace's action.
