(BRUSSELS) - European antitrust watchdogs announced on Tuesday an eight-million-euro ($11.3 million) fine for French waste giant Suez Environnement and its Lyonnaise des Eaux (LDE) subsidiarity.
The fine was issued after LDE and Suez Environnement admitted that an LDE employee had broken a legal seal during an inspection in April last year. The company said in a statement that the breach was "inadvertent."
The investigation into suspected anti-competitive practices in the water and waste water markets is still on-going, the commission underlined.
