(BRUSSELS) - The European Union called for an end Thursday to violence in Burkina Faso and urged a "constructive dialogue" after protestors set parliament ablaze in an uprising against long-standing President Blaise Compaore.
With the government forced to scrap a vote on plans to allow Compaore to serve another term after 27 years in power, the EU "calls upon all parties to refrain from the use of violence and engage rapidly in a constructive dialogue," a statement said.
